I'd guess that, as in that example, it just depends on if the boss you want has specific mechanics that require you to have more than one person.

All you gotta do is pull the statues at the same time, so you can run the gauntlet and get the dps buff at the end, then you can solo it. So doable only by hunters, locks, dks and ww monks (yes, the tiger works). No, you’ll fail at Opulance as others have said, it is also worth mentioning several bosses before this while not impossible to solo are class specific solos.
